You say that even the Lord’s Prayer is a prayer that condemns every one of us. And you say that now, on this side of the cross, things are different from the way Jesus prayed.
“Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors… For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.”*
Matthew 6:12,14-15
*Note: This is clearly a conditional forgiveness based on our forgiving of others. Compare this with the unconditional forgiveness shown in Colossians 3:13 and Ephesians 4:32, after the cross. Now, we Christians forgive others because we’ve already been forgiven.
